Getting rid of a mattress the right way
Do
- Check the tip rules for your vehicle before you set off
- Keep it dry and covered if it has to wait outside before collection
- Ask to see a waste carrier's Environment Agency registration
- Include the bed base and anything else you want gone in your photos
Don't
- Leave it by the roadside or on private land, as that is fly-tipping
- Hand it to someone who cannot show a waste carrier registration
- Try to carry it down the stairs alone
- Assume a charity will take it
