What counts as a bathroom suite
A suite usually means the toilet, basin and bath, and often the pedestal, cistern, taps and panels too. Tips charge by the item, so a full suite can add up to several charges.
If you are having the bathroom refitted, the old suite may come out alongside tiles, boards and rubble. That mix is covered on our builders’ waste page.
Before the suite comes out
Do
- Check the tip rules on the [Reading tips](/reading-tips/) page before you go
- Turn off the water and disconnect the supply first
- Empty and drain the bath, basin and cistern
- Ask for photos-based pricing if you are unsure how much there is
Don't
- Lift a cast iron or steel bath on your own
- Hand it to someone who cannot show they are a registered waste carrier
- Leave it on the street or a verge
- Turn up at the tip in a van without a permit

Bathroom suite disposal questions
Can I take a bathroom suite to Reading tip?
Yes, up to a limit. The charge is £3.20 a item, and vans need a van permit. Check the [Reading tips](/reading-tips/) page before you set off.
Can I put an old toilet in my household bin?
No. A toilet or bath is far too big and heavy for a normal bin. Use a bulky collection, the tip, or have it taken away.
Do you take the suite out of the house?
Yes. We carry everything out from inside, so you don't lift a thing.
Is there a limit on how much you take?
No. We do the whole job in one visit, with no limit on items, so a suite and the other bits from a refit can go together.
